A short Planetary history

Ragnarokk has remained part of the Imperium for 6666 years after it was wrested from the hands of an Ork Waaagh by the collective efforts of the Imperial Guard.

In the beginning it was colonized by retired Imperial Guardsmen and willing settlers who had had enough of war and found even this planet to be paradise compared to the deadly war zones frequented by the Imperium’s never ending war-machinery.

The planet has always been inhospitable, but it has become significantly warmer over the last couple of decades, and pollution has become an increasing problem to such a degree that the Hive Cities now, for the most part, are completely sealed and run on filtered air and water.

From the very onset of the planet’s history, it has been a major exporter of ammunition and weapons while functioning in part as a retirement home for venerable Imperial Guardsmen with nowhere else to go.
– These old heroes are usually put to work in bars or small establishments like guard houses, cleaning companies and filtering stations.
They are not known to be glorious members of the population, although a lucky few frequent the closest circle of friends of Imperial Governour “Olbaid Sucidisuac”, who tends to change his Imperial Guardsmen “friends” every few months, keeping them around only long enough for them to keep him entertained by the stories they tell.

Aside from a few minor uproars, the planet has remained loyal for all this time and has been known to always pay its annual tax revenue on time and in full. – This has all changed in the last few weeks.

After the first landing of the Chaos Legions, the planet has turned to war.
Imperial Guardsmen veterans have become prized leaders; the people have been drafted and fully two Hive Cities have fallen to corruption. Among these is Ubertas, the planet’s Capital hive, and with it has fallen the planet’s only Space Port, and thus every chance of escape for the planet’s inhabitants.

Upon Inquisitor Causidicus’ arrival at the planet, he found himself dodging meek attempts at diversions, persuasions, bribes and other corrupting influences. – Finally, when he learned the full truth of things, he faced attempts upon his life and was able to escape only through the help of a well hidden teleport homer and loyal friends left behind on the planet.

Causidicus’ tale is one of a planet riven by earthquakes and other natural disasters, but also one of horrible scenes of the corruptions of the Warp.
Already some areas of the planet experiences strange gravity effects, where the world seems to twist and sight becomes blurred; where people can walk on walls or even upside down.

The Imperial palace has become a lone island, floating unnaturally in the sky some way to the north of Ubertas, and the Capital city is plagued by daemons in the night.

A great Warp Storm is building around the planet and while its people are fighting, they are slowly falling into despair and hopelessness.
In but a few days the Warp Storm will be at it’s peak and once it is fully blown no aid will reach the besieged planet of Ragnarokk.
