42
Officially,
Enigma 42 is for all intents and purposes considered to be an
uncharted Death World, covered in Ice and snow, holding freezing
temperatures that can kill a man in less than a minute.
But unofficially, the planet also holds two warmer areas.
One is a great, Jungle filled Valley, known as the Genesis Vale,
while the other is a seething Swamp, filled with deadly gasses,
known as the Mortis Vale.
The Genesis Vale
(Valley of Life)
Is a huge crater-like valley surrounded by glacier-like walls.
The valley itself stands on top of an enormous network of volcanic
tunnels and holds a Jungle filled with life at the centre, while
a temperate environment holding deciduous trees can be found
closer to the cold glacier walls in the outer regions of the
valley.
Bios
Between the Jungle and Glacier walls lies the small city of
Bios.
The City is largely a Research Facility and Fort, populated
by the Tech Priests of the Magos Biologis and the planet’s
small, but hard, defensive battalion.
Bios is filled
with buildings serving as living areas, research facilities,
a life supporting infra structure and defensive outposts.
The small fort-city once also held a small Space Port consisting
of two Landing Pads and a tower, but these have like the rest
of the city largely been destroyed by the forces of Chaos.
What little remains intact is harshly held by the Imperial Forces
who find themselves under constant attack by Orks and Tyranids.
The Sub-Terran Tunnels
Beneath the Vale of life, lie miles upon miles of cavernous
tunnels.
Many of the tunnels in this maze are locked off from the rest
of the system.
Some are used
as xenos holding cells, others as research areas.
Many are used for storage, but most are empty wind-tunnels that
bring hot volcanic gasses from the planets center onto the planets
surface.
Unknown to the Imperials however, the tunnels also contain an
ancient air-filtration system that renders the otherwise poisonous
gasses breathable.
And even deeper
into the tunnels are huge volcanic chambers filled with Magma
and Halls of Living Metal that contain a sleeping menace to
old to be remembered.
The Vale of Mortis
(Valley of Death)
This place holds nothing of interest, only death!
